Removing Survey Blocks

So I'm sure you have seen these survey popups that basically block your view until you finish doing one of their wonderful surveys to gain access to what you were looking for.

They are annoying and usually won't even go away once you do complete a survey. There is a very easy way to get rid of them by using PeerBlock. PeerBlock lets you control who your computer "talks to" on the Internet. By selecting appropriate lists of "known bad" computers, you can block communication with advertising or spyware oriented servers, computers monitoring your p2p activities, computers which have been "hacked", even entire countries!
They can't get in to your computer, and your computer won't try to send them anything either. If your a avid torrenter you should already know about Peerguardin/Peerblock.

Companies set up fake peers and trackers that either send you malicious files or note your IP address. Now using Peer Block we can stop them from getting all of us! Once a IP range is detected as being malicious they are added to the Peer Block database. Peer Block will then prevent your machine from allowing them to connect. It is not foolproof by any means but for those of you who keep on downloading, this might be a little piece of mind.

If you don't use torrents then just install it for the ad/survey removal option. You can obtain a copy of this open source program by clicking the link below:

http://www.peerblock.com/releases

Once you install it go thru the setup and depending on what you be using it for select the appropriate block lists. If just blocking ads/surveys is what you need then select the ads and spyware option. FYI Peerblock blocks a lot of different sites for various reasons, so I would just enable it when you need it, once your done with viewing what you wanted disable it.

Here is some screenshots of before and after:
Before > PeerBlock Disabled (as you can see the survey is blocking my view and Peerblock is disabled)

After > PeerBlock Enabled (reloaded the page and now the survey has been removed and you can see that it blocked it in Peerblock)

  1. Thanks for the tip! I just had a site EXACTLY like the one you describe and could not get around it.

  2. I tried as you suggested, but it didn't work for me. Any suggestions? No help on the PeerBlock web site.
